(Senator Mary Landrieu, Calzone (Dutch Warmblood) and Julie Calzone, Calzone/CEO)
What does a long-time Senator and Calzone CEO, Julie Calzone, have in common - horses. Senator Mary Landrieu not only had ridden horses, she drives her daughter to riding lessons and horse shows three days a week from her home in D.C. Her daughter is a champion equestrienne.
The two women connected when the Senator was a keynote speaker at an awards luncheon that Calzone was an award's recipient.
Both are combining their passion and love for horses in an effort to support and grown the horse industry in Louisiana. Louisiana's economic impact is current measured at $2.45 billion and the state ranks #5 in the U.S.
Calzone has a large stable of equestrian clients: Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Associations, Evangeline Downs, Sterling Silver Stables, Will Faudree, Tanglewood Farm and Honeybrook Farm. Julie Calzone is also a principal and owner of Equine Motorcoach and Equine Alert.
