EatLafayette Restaurants Work Together to Encourage Dining Locally
Eighth Annual EatLafayette Brought to You by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines
(Lafayette, La.) – In its eighth year, the 2012 EatLafayette campaign, brought to you by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines runs from June 18 through August 15; with over 60 participating restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and experiences, diners will have many tasty options for their summer meals.
In Louisiana, many of the fondest memories and celebrations involve gathering with loved ones to share a good meal. That tradition has been proven by Lafayette’s recent recognition by Rand McNally and USA Today’s 2011 Best of the Road campaign as the Best for Food and Southern Living’s acknowledgement that Lafayette is the Tastiest Town in the South for 2012.
“EatLafayette is about bringing locally-owned restaurants together to support one another and the community,” said Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s and one of the originators of the EatLafayette campaign. “We want to bring people together to experience local flavors and support local business.”
“The campaign saturates the local market with innovative use of social and digital media in addition to television, radio and print,” said Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission. “EatLafayette encourages people to visit locally-owned restaurants throughout the campaign and through the rest of the year. There’s something for everyone in this year’s list of restaurants.”
Eatlafayette.com gives visitors a full list of participating restaurants. The website includes information about the campaign, special offers, contests, sponsors, a helpful map, and information about the Caribbean Cruise Giveaway. The 4-day cruise is compliments of Travel Machine.
EatLafayette is utilizing several social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Pinterest, and eNewsletters to keep the community up to date on specials and promotions offered by participating restaurants and sponsors.

About EatLafayette™
What started as a conversation between two local businessmen in Lafayette, Louisiana has evolved into a successful promotions campaign that provides a unique opportunity for people to experience local cuisine in Lafayette. Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s Seafood Grill, and Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission got together in early 2005 to discuss how locally-owned restaurants could gain visibility in a market flooded with big-dollar franchise restaurant advertising.
The result of those conversations was a summer EatLafayette campaign that is now in its eighth year. EatLafayette is a two-month celebration showcasing the restaurants that make Acadiana culture so appetizing. This year’s campaign is a true success with over 60 restaurants signed up to participate.
