Are You Ready to Tri-Running?

"There is an expression among even the most advanced runners that getting your shoes on is the hardest part of any workout."
-Kathrine Switzer

Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a numbered entry. If she can admit to a lack of motivation at times, you can certainly forgive yourself for yours. What's important is that you want to lace up! You're halfway there and Tri-Running Lafayette is here to take you to the finish line.

First things first, you NEED a good pair of running shoes. Not tennis shoes, not cross-training shoes... running shoes. Having the right pair will not only enable you to perform better, but can aid you in avoiding common running injuries such as shin splints and plantar fasciitis. We carry an array of esteemed brands for your convenience and offer a free gait-analysis with your purchase. One of our associates will watch you walk, analyze your foot strike, and recommend you a style that is aligned with your objectives. The right shoes are the only equipment needed for this sport. Make this small investment; it makes a world of difference.

Now, you've got your new Asics, Brooks, Nikes etc., so you're all set to go run right? Maybe not. For some people it's not that easy. When should you run? Where? For how long? Well the answers depend on you. Assess yourself and discover your current fitness level and the subsequent goals you want to achieve.

There are so many resources out there for your use. You could pick up Kathrine Switzer's book, Marathon Woman. If you're more of a tech-user than a page-turner, you could try one of the training apps on the market like Couch to 5k. Or for a free alternative, you could hit the internet. There are websites out there, such as this one, that offer running programs that are tailored to specific skill levels and goals.

No matter what option you choose they all have three tips in common: be patient, always listen to your body, and keep it fun!

What are you waiting for? Stop by the store for a new pair of kicks, check out some of these Pandora Workout Stations, and Tri-Running!
Look good feel good, right?
Tri-Running Lafayette is waiting for you.

Did you know?
Running shoes should be changed out every 300-500 miles. Even though they may still look new on the outside, they are losing support on the inside!

DON'T REMEMBER YOUR TYPE OF SHOE?

Don't worry...we've kept those records for you!
