Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots Will Award Scholarships at Louisiana Champions Day and Starlight Racing and College Night

(New Orleans, La.) – Louisiana Champions Day will take place on Saturday, December 12, at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, La. Starlight Racing and College Night will take place on December 18. A total of six (6) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded at these events. Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will award two (2) scholarships at each event, and Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots will award two (2) scholarships on Starlight Racing and College Night.
The drawings will be after the fifth race on Louisiana Champions Day. The races begin at 12:30 p.m., and the student must be there to register between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the designated registration booth.
The drawings will be held after the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th races for Starlight Racing and College Night. The first race begins at 5 p.m. Students can register until the post time of the third race at the designated booth. The student is asked to bring their college ID and driver's license to register. They must also know the name and address of the college that they are attending.
The requirements for the scholarship are as follows:
  • Must be a college student enrolled full-time for Spring 2016.
  • Must be in good standing with the college or university.
  • Must be present to win.
All entrants must report to the Winner's Circle at the time of each drawing. If the drawing winner is not present at the Winner's Circle at the time of the drawing another entry will be pulled until a winner is identified. Winners will be notified at the Winner's Circle by verbal announcement only. It is the drawing entrant's responsibility to be at the Winner's Circle at the time of the drawing.
The scholarship will be deposited directly to the student's account at the college or university.
