A Message for our Sponsors and Restaurants

Now that the official campaign is over, we'd like to take a short pause to thank EVERYONE involved in making this campaign such a success. Our sponsors and our restaurants really stepped up their participation this year. We had a record number of promotions and giveaways and had SO MUCH FUN doing it!
We'd also like to thank all of the support staff that took everything complicated and made it simple. Interns, family, friends, and anyone else on your team that made something happen for you. This community got together and stood for our locally-owned restaurants in support of great service, delicious food, and good times. We think the campaign was a huge success.
We're not done, though! The website and social media stay up and running all year long, just as your businesses do. We're here to help spread the word about how amazing you all are - so if you have something special going on, let us know! We'd be happy to share with our fans.
7,000 Facebook Fan Giveaway
Once we reach 7,000 fans on Facebook, we'll give away a World's Best Chicken Cooker from Bruce Foods! Visit our tab on Facebook - you have to Like our page to be able to enter. We'll draw at random from the entries we receive and contact the winner via the contact information provided. So get everyone you know to Like us on Facebook and you could win the Chicken Cooker!
Again, thank you all for an amazing campaign, once again! Let's encourage Acadiana to EatLafayette all year long.
Allons manger!

EatLafayette Restaurants Work Together to Encourage Dining Locally
Eighth Annual EatLafayette Brought to You by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines
(Lafayette, La.) – In its eighth year, the 2012 EatLafayette campaign, brought to you by The New Fly Lafayette Club and Robert Mondavi Wines runs from June 18 through August 15; with over 60 participating restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and experiences, diners will have many tasty options for their summer meals.
In Louisiana, many of the fondest memories and celebrations involve gathering with loved ones to share a good meal. That tradition has been proven by Lafayette’s recent recognition by Rand McNally and USA Today’s 2011 Best of the Road campaign as the Best for Food and Southern Living’s acknowledgement that Lafayette is the Tastiest Town in the South for 2012.
“EatLafayette is about bringing locally-owned restaurants together to support one another and the community,” said Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s and one of the originators of the EatLafayette campaign. “We want to bring people together to experience local flavors and support local business.”
“The campaign saturates the local market with innovative use of social and digital media in addition to television, radio and print,” said Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission. “EatLafayette encourages people to visit locally-owned restaurants throughout the campaign and through the rest of the year. There’s something for everyone in this year’s list of restaurants.”
Eatlafayette.com gives visitors a full list of participating restaurants. The website includes information about the campaign, special offers, contests, sponsors, a helpful map, and information about the Caribbean Cruise Giveaway. The 4-day cruise is compliments of Travel Machine.
EatLafayette is utilizing several social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Pinterest, and eNewsletters to keep the community up to date on specials and promotions offered by participating restaurants and sponsors.

About EatLafayette™
What started as a conversation between two local businessmen in Lafayette, Louisiana has evolved into a successful promotions campaign that provides a unique opportunity for people to experience local cuisine in Lafayette. Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s Seafood Grill, and Gerald Breaux, executive director of the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission got together in early 2005 to discuss how locally-owned restaurants could gain visibility in a market flooded with big-dollar franchise restaurant advertising.
The result of those conversations was a summer EatLafayette campaign that is now in its eighth year. EatLafayette is a two-month celebration showcasing the restaurants that make Acadiana culture so appetizing. This year’s campaign is a true success with over 60 restaurants signed up to participate.

We Eat and Eat and EatLafayette!
The crew at Calzone just love to EatLafayette! As the creative voice behind this annual campaign, we spend months thinking about food, writing about food, taking pictures of food, talking with restaurant owners…and at the end of the day, we are HUNGRY. We are so proud to support the restaurants that make EatLafayette possible, and of course we enjoy writing about our experiences at each of them. It is our dream to visit each of the 53 participating restaurants by August 15th. So far we’ve been to about half of the restaurants on the list (see below), which means we’ve got a lot more eating to do! Check out the EatLafayette Blog regularly to read about our latest dining adventures!
